Why Hoyos Engineering Exists
If you have ever called an engineering firm and waited days for a callback, received a report weeks past deadline, or felt like just another number in somebody's queue — you understand the problem Carlos Hoyos set out to fix.
After nearly two decades working inside some of South Florida's established structural engineering firms, Carlos saw the same pattern repeat: property owners and contractors needed answers fast, and the firms they hired moved slow. Condo boards facing inspection deadlines were stuck waiting. Restoration companies with active damage sites could not get reports turned around on time. Homeowners planning remodels were passed between departments and lost in the shuffle.
In 2016, Carlos founded Hoyos Engineering with a straightforward principle — every client gets direct access to a licensed engineer who picks up the phone, knows the local codes inside and out, and delivers on the timeline they were promised.
That principle has not changed. It is the reason restoration companies keep us on speed dial. It is why condo boards come back for every building in their portfolio. And it is how we have grown from a one-person operation to a firm handling projects across three counties — entirely through referrals and reputation.

Carlos Hoyos is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Florida with over two decades of structural engineering experience. He founded Hoyos Engineering, Inc. in 2016 after years of working across South Florida's most demanding structural challenges -- from hurricane-damaged coastal buildings to complex residential renovations.
Carlos holds a degree from Florida Atlantic University and has built his career around the types of projects that define South Florida: milestone inspections for aging condominiums, concrete restoration for salt-air-damaged structures, fire and water damage assessments for restoration companies, and structural design for residential additions and remodels.
His approach is direct: understand the project, define the scope, deliver the engineering, and stay available throughout construction. No layers of project managers. No weeks-long response times. When you call Hoyos Engineering, you are talking to the engineer who is working on your project.
